Whether you’re an individual, company, or community organization, you can support Placer Food Bank’s mission and sustain its programs and services to provide life-sustaining food assistance to individuals, families, and seniors in El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties. Here are ways you can help:

Future50 Project: The Future50 Project is a community cause against hunger and an ambitious plan to raise funds that will help the Placer Food Bank continue its essential mission. With your support, we can feed more families, upgrade our equipment and facilities and improve food distribution throughout El Dorado, Nevada and Placer counties. Learn how to join the project here.

Online Food Donation: You can “shop” and donate funds for food boxes, food bags and snack bags for our Kids Backpack program. A listing of non-perishable and perishable food items will be shown, so you will know how your donation is at work to help us purchase items for distribution. If your company or community organization is interested in hosting an online fund+food drive, you can register yourself or a team.

Frequently Asked Questoins

11. What is Placer Food Bank’s (PFB) Online Fund + Food Drive?
It’s an online platform where individuals and teams can select food or fund donations of items such as:

  • Perishable fresh fruits and vegetables
  • Non-perishable food boxes canned items and pantry staples
  • Kid-friendly snack items to support PFB’s backpack program.

The funds donated through the online platform will be exclusively used to purchase perishable and non-perishable food inventory for distribution to those in need, which bolsters PFB’s purchasing power

22. Why is PFB offering online food donation only versus accepting community food donations like they have in the past?
Traditionally perishable and non-perishable food items have been donated to PFB through community food drives. During COVID-19, we discontinued accepting food from community food drives to ensure safe and efficient storing, handling and distribution of all food items. Our online platform allows donors to make either a financial contribution or select a specific type of food selection to donate
33. Is it easy to donate through the online platform?
Yes, it’s simple and easy to navigate! Go to: https://donate.placerfoodbank.org/event/donatefood/ At the bottom of the home page, click on the Select Food to Donate button, shop the product list, determine the quantity you want to give, and click Add to Cart, Checkout, fill out your information and click Complete Donation. If you’re interested in registering for a food drive, click Register Your Food Drive Team and follow the instructions to customize your donation efforts. Our Operations team will take it from there to ensure foods selected will be distributed.
44. Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, your donation is tax deductible and will help local individuals, families, children and seniors in communities throughout El Dorado, Nevada and Placer Counties consistently have access to food to put on their tables. Placer Bank is a 501c3 non-profit organization. Federal Tax ID# 94-1740316.

Placer Food Bank Endowment Fund: Placer Food Bank (PFB) received a generous $30,000.00 donation from Wells Fargo in December 2020, to seed the establishment of the Placer Food Bank Endowment Fund at Placer Community Foundation (PCF). This important, forward-thinking step will help secure a sustainable source of resources needed to continue the work of PFB for many, many years to come. PFB is currently seeking help from our many wonderful donors to grow this fund over time.

Endowments work by investing contributions made to the fund over time. The earnings on investment support PFB’s distribution of food to thousands of people in need. The greater the fund grows; the greater financial resources are provided.

Establishing the fund at PCF furthered a partnership that has grown between the two organizations over the years—a partnership of connecting critical safety net services with philanthropic support. With the fund housed at PCF, caring people who share in PFB’s vision to end hunger in our community, can make charitable contributions from a variety of asset types. Those contributions can be made today, or in the future through bequest in a will or trust. The Community Foundation can work with your financial professional to determine a gift that best suits your charitable and tax planning needs.

With PFB looking toward the future, the Placer Food Bank Endowment Fund allows PFB to continue to honor its mission of nourishing families experiencing food insecurity, educating the community about hunger, while advocating for hunger relief.
