From Dave Martinez, Executive Director, Placer Food Bank
Placer Food Bank, an affiliate of Feeding America, is fast approaching a milestone birthday – turning 50 this year! Founded in 1970 as the Community Resources Council, we’ve grown from a small grassroots agency to the leading advocate and food distributor for hunger-relief in El Dorado, Nevada and Placer Counties. During fiscal year 2018-19, we distributed 6.5 million pounds of food from our 30,000 square foot warehouse in Roseville to our 70+ hunger-relief partners, who in turn helped feed over 90,000 individuals per month within the counties served. Our organization has certainly come a long way over the past 50 years.
With our valued donors, dedicated staff, board of directors, volunteer, and community partners all working together behind the scenes, I can tell you that we haven’t done this alone these past 50 years. Now our sights are set on the next 50 and beyond! So, please join in. Get involved. Help us fund our future! Sadly, hunger isn’t going away, but neither is Placer Food Bank! Let’s help solve hunger - - together!
