Feed Our Future Program

The Placer Food Bank is proud to introduce the Feed Our Future Program. Under this umbrella of services, we are able to provide food assistance to a wide variety of clients.

Mobile Food Pantry

We are committed to providing our clients with fresh, healthy food. Our refrigerated truck delivers seasonal produce directly to those in need of food assistance. We utilize a variety of distribution models from servicing low income apartment complexes, to faith based organizations and also pop up Farmers Markets. In addition to receiving the fresh produce, this program gives our clients an opportunity to interact with their neighbors, share recipes and realize that they are not alone in their struggles.

Backpack Program

Nearly 14,400 ( 1 in 5) children in Placer, El Dorado and Nevada counties live in food insecure households, meaning they do not know with certainty where their next meal will come from.

Most of these children rely on the meals provided by national school meal programs as their primary source of food. While many of us look forward to the weekend with anticipation, these children regard the weekend with anxiety and apprehension. What will they eat over the weekend?

When Monday arrives many of these children complain of stomach aches, dizziness, difficulty concentrating, or are simply absent from school. The BackPack Program was created to provide these children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for weekends and holidays when school is not in session. We assemble and distribute 935 packages of child-friendly snacks and meals each week to several high-need schools in the Roseville City, Western Placer and Auburn School Districts. The packages are distributed to the students on Friday afternoons, who then tuck them into their backpacks before they head home for the weekend.

School Pantry

The School Pantry Program is ideal for schools serving students that have an adult available to prepare and cook meals for them. We supply a family sized bag of produce one week and nonperishable food the next. Menu items are selected based on feedback from the schools and their nutritional value. This program encourages student families to experiment with new healthy recipes, share their love of cooking and sit and enjoy a meal together .
